Child Protection Cohort: Strengthening Your Ministry Through Abuse Prevention

Thursday, August 8, 2024 (3:00 PM - 4:30 PM) (CDT)

Description

The ECAP Cohort will provide support for ministry leaders to help them develop ECAP-compliant policies and procedures for Children's and Youth Ministry. The Cohort is a five-month program that equips leaders to consider, develop, implement, and review safety policies that reflect the Child Safety Standards of the Evangelical Council for Abuse Prevention. This will be accomplished through required readings of assigned books, cohort discussions designed to apply knowledge into practice, and assignments that will help you understand the fundamentals of creating and implementing a child safety policy. Cohort discussions are 1.5 hours, once a month, for five months. Students are expected to have completed required assignments before the discussion and participate during discussions.

These cohorts will be led by Jeremy Herron, founder of Fortified Consulting. In August of 2019, Jeremy was selected to be part of an expert panel that helped create the ECAP national standards for church safety. Using the years of reshaping and leading kids ministries, Jeremy began to see that his impact on local churches could have a broader reach and the passion for keeping children safe could be instilled at every ministry across the nation. Over time, these conversations developed into Fortified Consulting to create a more formal approach to see every church, school and ministry be stronger and safer for the children and youth in these programs.
